Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player secured his maiden title for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's maiden trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court from March of the previous year.

Success also signifies the Russian has won twenty-one championships at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in honour of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's counter-punching approach and frequent reactions on the tennis court had led observers to question if his skill to perform at the elite level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, supported by an improved serving game.

He came back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the last five games to take the lead.

Both players traded break points in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, took control to push for a final set.

The opponent saved 4 early-game chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the title with a rally at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
